Putting theory into practice

During the practical part of this seminar, the focus is on direct application of the theoretical knowledge from the accompanying online seminar on February 6 and 7, 2025.

You will independently test the implementation of strength assessments on complex components using concrete case studies, and apply the proven FKM Guideline in practice and learn to precisely evaluate the strength of components.

Gain practical experience on how you can design components that are safe, as well as improve them by considering resource efficiency and weight optimization. Under the guidance of the instructor, you will apply the methods presented to evaluate the strength of designs.

This module offers you the unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge and develop your skills through practical application. Expand your technical knowledge and increase your practical skills in extensive discussions with the instructor and other participants - an indispensable step for anyone working in design, development, and calculation.

Target audience

Engineers and specialists in the fields of design, calculation, and development who deal with the design and optimization of components. In particular, this seminar is aimed at those who want to deepen their knowledge of strength assessments and apply it directly to their projects.

Main topics

  • FE model strength assessment requirements

  • Extraction and processing of stress variables from the FE model

  • Determination of the plastic form factor, highly stressed surface and stress gradients in the FE system

  • Implementation of the workflow using simple and complex examples

Objectives

After completing the full seminar (online + additional practice module), you will be able to successfully apply the FKM Guideline for strength assessment of your own components. You will be able to design safe, weight-optimized components, and apply the methods you have learned directly to your own projects.
