Basics - calculations - applications

In cooperation with Gesellschaft für Tribologie (GfT)

The efficiency and service life of plain bearings are a result of the interaction between the operating conditions, shafts, bearings, the bearing environment, and the lubricant used. Damage to the bearings as well as subsequent damage can be avoided with suitable bearing design. The goal of this seminar is to convey the basics for selecting suitable bearings, materials, and lubricants, methods for effective bearing design and analysis, and corrective measures to remediate bearing damage when it occurs.

Target audience

Drive technology specialists and managers from research and development, design, calculation, maintenance, and repair

With presentations by

Main topics

  • Athanassios Skiadas, KS Gleitlager GmbH

  • Magnus Hagenhoff, RENK Group

  • Burghard Kohring, RENK Group

  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Adrian Rienäcker, University of Kassel

Also:
RENK Group factory tour

  • Tribology of plain bearings

  • Materials and lubricants for plain bearings

  • Design methods

  • High-speed plain bearings

  • Plain bearings for specialized applications

  • Plain bearing damage and its causes

Objectives

This aims to answer the following questions:

  • How do plain bearings work?

  • Which materials and lubricants are used?

  • What are the different types of plain bearings?

  • What are suitable methods for targeted plain bearing design?

  • How do plain bearings influence the dynamics of the drivetrain in high-speed applications?

  • What are special characteristics of media-lubricated plain bearings?

  • What are the types of gear damage and what are their causes?
