Optimizing cylindrical gear efficiency

Online basic seminar
10:00-11:30 CET

Language: German

Calculation - influencing factors - design strategy

Efficient gearboxes are important for minimizing energy consumption and lifecycle costs, as well as improving the thermal behavior and power density of transmission systems. Load-dependent gearing losses are largely determined by the macro-geometry design of the gear. Thus, efficiency, load carrying capacity, and noise behavior are all important design criteria.

Target audience

This seminar is aimed at all design engineers who have to deal with the above-mentioned issues.

Objectives

This seminar deals with the design of optimally efficient cylindrical gears. First, participants will learn the basics of gear loss, followed by calculation of losses for cylindrical gears. Next, we will show the influence of all gear geometry parameters on the efficiency, and derive a strategy for designing optimally efficient cylindrical gears. Finally, we will apply this design strategy to a practical example.
